Metallurgical Fire Most of this feels like a newer blackgaze album released in the last couple of years, but without vocals for the most part. More blackgaze and atmospheric black metal bands are releasing instrumental versions of their albums these days too. That being the case, this is another HDR artist whose progression feels ahead of his time. This album is from 2010. It’s really quite good and engaging, with fantastic guitar work and progressive aspects. Favorite track: Silence.

A largely instrumental (post)metal album, filled with powerful, catchy and atmospheric riffs that bring about the concept of The Grand Contraction. The Foetal Mind's change in sound shows an incredible evolution in the concept of the project. The overall atmosphere of the music is perhaps stronger than ever for this project, albeit approached in a different waty. This album itself can be described as a mixture of post-metal/rock, doom, black metal, and traditional metal with a strong emphasis on melody and atmosphere.
