𝙅𝙤𝙚 𝙎𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙡𝙡 Yeah, you can definitely sense the modern honest pain and agony here. Fine urban post-black metal that waves through serene atmospheres into sulphuric flashes that scratch the soul. Delicate layers that keeps on giving after many spins. Favorite track: Pariah.

Alice M. The more I grow up, the less I feel at home in big cities.
Somewhere between White Ward and Downfall of Nur, maybe even with hints of La Torture des Ténèbres and Schammasch. (Note: I suck at this comparison game, so beware.)
Thoth’s Girl
Thoth’s Girl thumbnail
Thoth’s Girl The New York City subway system 😃. I read the albums thoughts and descriptions and I applied it to the feelings and experiences of riding the trains. It works. Totally relatable - the paranoia, claustrophobia, anger, isolation among the masses, even the last track, when you’re finally approaching your stop and home is just within reach and you realize that we are all just automatons on a futile, relentless, anguishing, never ending trip dictated by the master puppeteers idea of life.
Metallurgical Fire
Metallurgical Fire thumbnail
Metallurgical Fire Void is a song that could easily be used in a film score. The intensity of that song, and the drum track on it is mesmerizing. Otherwise this album takes some getting used to. The most extreme, harshest of vocals and fierce black metal of the old school, but with some rousing guitar parts, as on Madness. Favorite track: Void.
Jarak
Jarak thumbnail
Jarak I think the promo text describes this album as reflecting the claustrophobia and feelings of existential dread that come with modern city life (or some such). While that sounds very over-the-top, it's actually a fairly good description in this case. This albums does its best to pummel you sonically right from the start, and it makes a good effort of it. At least until the last track, which to me is a bit of a non-sequitir.
Drew Music
Drew Music thumbnail
Drew Music Excellent modern black metal that eschews the atmospheric cascades of current trends, a dark and furious blend of vaguely Kataton-ic melodies mixed with raw black metal aggression. Do not turn away from this one. Favorite track: Pariah.

From the onset of “Faces Turn Away”, an all-encompassing sense of existential terror and claustrophobic anxiety hits you and builds to a crescendo before everything descends into dread and finally nothingness. An album about the misery, futility, and madness of modern urban life, related in some ways to releases by netra but foregoing much of the trip-hop influence for a more abrasive and gritty black metal root that feels both urgent and cavernous. Besides its Black Metal root, the album also knows when to slow to a crawling funeral dirge to convey total despair and the loss of hope. A modern take on classic black metal marked by unconventional and enigmatic twists that are both genuine and timely.

Kassad first began with an EP entitled “Humans” in January 2016, A year later, Kassad released “Faces Turn Away”, the debut album independently on Bandcamp. Now, a few months later Kassad’s debut album will be released on Hypnotic Dirge in a 4 panel sleeve with a booklet and sticker.

Album release is set for July 6, 2017 in a limitation of 300 copies.

***

"Thoroughly authentic, claustrophobic and even downright scary stuff. This has an urban and stifling feel much like London itself where the mysterious one man band hails from."
-Ave Noctum

"Kassad does an excellent job of balancing waves of abrasive, fast paced riffs and slow moments that ease up on the aggressiveness but retain a dark and sinister feel. "
-Transcending Obscurity

"Every song connects at a primal level, plumbing the depths of human affliction and resilience. Dramatic variations from song to song add to the overall strength of the album as a transportive experience"
-No Clean Singing
